The following Health & Safety training is required of KYAA coaches.
All Head Coaches plus at least one assistant coach for each team must complete sex abuse training. Acceptable sex abuse training for coaches can be obtained from: Safe To Compete: NCMEC Connector PA Act 126 Training: https://www.pa.gov/agencies/pspc/content-pages/outreach/act-126-training.htmlA copy of your Certificate of Completion must be provided to the KYAA Secretary to be kept on file. Certificates will be valid for a period of 5 years from completion.Although only one Assistant Coach is required to complete the training, all Assistants are encouraged to do so.First Aid TrainingAll Head and Assistant Coaches should complete some form of first aid training unless they are already certified.KYAA recommends the USA Baseball online first aid course:https://api.mobilecoach.org/static/asset/scorm/131_24dc2be4-d0c2-420a-9229-d96eb4f01eb4_default/scormcontent/#/Concussion Protocol TrainingAll Head Coaches plus at least one Assistant Coach for each team must complete Concussion Protocol Training. KYAA uses the CDC program "Heads-Up":HEADS UP to Youth Sports Coaches: Online Concussion Training | HEADS UP | CDCThe course must be completed every two years and a copy of the Certificate of Completion submitted to the Secretary.Although only one Assistant Coach is required to complete the training, all Assistants are encouraged to do so.
