Fielding Gloves for Fastpitch Softball
Players can't learn and perform to the best of their ability without the right equipment. Help your player and parents find a glove with which she can be successful.
If you have a player who can't seem to keep the ball in her glove and make the catch, it is very likely the glove she is using is the problem. Take the time to inspect her glove. Ask her to squeeze it for you. If she can't open it and squeeze it closed, the glove is not broken-in and she can't catch with it. Is the pocket large enough for a softball? Does the glove fall off her hand? When you close the glove, does the thumb align with the pinky finger (as it should) or somewhere else?
If a young player's glove isn't properly broken-in, she is not going to be able to do it herself. She will need help from a parent or a coach.
